Jeffory Buist was born in California in 1975 and raised in Utah, where he developed a passion for the outdoors. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts and Social Sciences with an emphasis in aesthetics and philosophy, from Utah State University in 1998. From 2004 to 2006 he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay, South America, and then a traveling artist. Jeff then worked a desk job for several years. He returned to the arts in 2014. He currently resides in southern Paraguay, again, serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer.
Jeffory is Inspired by artists such as Henri Matisse, Maurice Denis, and Lawren Harris (among others). Jeffory has visited dozens of fine art museums in the United States, Latin America, and Western Europe. While he has received instruction and advice from many skilled artists and teachers, he is largely self taught.
